POSITION PROFILE

Reporting to: Head of Risk Management
Location: New York

THE FIRM
Our client is an independent, specialist treasury and risk management consultancy. Formed in the UK in the last 1980s, the firm has a global reach with a strong presence in Germany, together with offices in London, New York and Hong Kong. Corporate treasury has been the firm’s focus for over twenty years. We support and guide companies and their investors through periods of change. We work with both Corporates, Private Equity and Infrastructure funds.

Risk Management
Exposure to the risk of changes in foreign exchange rates, interest rates or commodity prices is something faced by most companies. Our client's risk management team helps clients to identify these risks and manage them.

Operational Treasury
Our client provides support and guidance to companies on how best to manage their treasury risks and operations, either in a direct "hands-on" capacity or as a consultant working on specific projects.

Online Services
Our Hedge Valuation Service enables users to manage, independently and securely, a number of actions relating to their derivative transactions.

POSITION SUMMARY
The main roles of the Consultant will be to:
• Manage and support risk management assignments.
• Take an active role in marketing services to financial sponsors.
• Where necessary, manage other staff.

TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Advise and support our clients in the definition and execution of appropriate risk management strategies, which predominantly focus on interest rate and foreign exchange exposures.
• Ensure that robust project proposals are offered, and subsequently delivered, in accordance with professional standards in order to meet agreed objectives.
• Build new sources of business through methodical and systematic business development practices in the local financial sponsor market, making full use of the leverage offered by firm’s existing relationships in Europe, the US and Asia.
• Once a relationship is formed, the Consultant will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the relationship ensuring that the firm is the treasury advisor of choice for that financial sponsor.
• Be a key participant to the continued development and growth of the global business.
• Work closely with the other consultants in the development of strategies, setting objectives, policies and plans, including identifying and targeting potential clients.

CHARACTERISTICS & EXPERIENCE
• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience, including hands-on responsibility for the development of interest and/or foreign exchange strategies.
• Background in strutted products preferred.
• Highly professional approach commensurate with successful presentations to financial sponsors and the senior management of operating companies.
• Ability to understand the financial risks faced by a business in order to ensure the definition of an appropriate risk management strategy.
• In-depth knowledge of different types of financial derivatives.
• Familiarity with hedge accounting.
• Experience acquired in the banking sector would be an advantage, although corporate treasury and/or consulting experience focused on risk management strategies is acceptable.
• Entrepreneurial drive; a strong desire to grow the business and have direct impact on its success.
• Self-motivated; possessing tenacity and having perseverance; a proven “closer".
• Consultative style; strong listening skills, articulate and with excellent writing skills.
• Conceptual and able to communicate simply.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a balanced open personality, straightforward in style with a sense of humor; an excellent relationship builder.
