Research Analyst

Research Analyst - (3 yrs experience; 20 year old L/S/ Financial Services fund; -500M AUM; midtown)


Role and Responsibilities

 NY-based L/S Financials Equity Hedge Fund seeking a highly motivated, analytical and detail-oriented graduate with a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree to join our team as a Research Analyst. The individual will be responsible for performing a broad range of analytical and research duties in support of the firm's Portfolio Manager. Experience with the financial sector is highly preferred. 

 Duties and Responsibilities: 

       Formulating buy/sell investment recommendations

       Building and maintaining models

       Interacting with company management teams and other research resources

       Compiling industry and sector level data

       Identifying and understanding underlying business fundamentals of investment candidates

       Generating and maintaining reports for the Portfolio Manager

       Perform thorough independent research including financial statement analysis, interviews,           reviewing news articles and publications, and other sources

       Maintaining awareness of new regulations and policies that may affect the securities

       Travel to conference and management meetings expected


Minimum Experience and Formal Requirements: 

       3 years of buy-side experience preferred but will consider outstanding sell-side experience

       Grad School/MBA Preferred

       Strong written and verbal communication skills

       Experience analyzing companies in the financial services sector

       Strong analytical skills including financial and accounting knowledge

       Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

       Computer skills including spreadsheets and word processing
