Hedge Fund Accountant/Sr (Boston, Dallas, New Brunswick, NJ)

Hedge Fund Accountant/Sr (Boston, Dallas, New Brunswick, NJ) - (top firm growing at about 20% per year; must be smart and entrepreneurial; 2 to 6 years experience; HF/PE experience; those with some fund experience and a smart, top performer will be considered; base of 55k to 65k+ bonus depending on experience and geography of position)

Responsibilities:
  • Full responsibility for fund accounting process including:
    • Daily reconciliation of cash balances
    • Daily/Monthly reconciliation of investment positions and market values
    • Trade processing Gathering and processing corporate actions
    •  Confirming validity of corporate actions and significant price changes with independent source
    • Calculation and recording of fees
    • Review of accruals and expense items
    •  Interaction with investment managers and prime brokers to resolve questions and reconciliation differences
    • Analytically review of daily and monthly results
    • Review of daily hedge fund reports prior to distribution
    • Problem identification and resolution 

  • Interaction and regular communication with fund services managers and directors 
  • Understanding of the hedge funds under administration (legal structure, investment objective, fee structure, liquidity provisions, etc.) 
  • Understanding of securities valuation, settlement properties and attributes 
  • Professionalism and responsiveness during interaction with Auditors and Tax Preparers for Funds 
  • Daily supervision of one or more fund accountants 
  • Staff training and development 
  • Staff evaluation and review 

Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 2+ years previous accounting and supervisory experience required
  • Previous industry experience with financial services hedge funds/fund of funds
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and current accounting principles 
  • Willingness to learn new systems, concepts and broaden knowledge in the industry 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Detail oriented, flexible and a team player mentality 
  • Ability to work under pressure 
  • Individual who takes initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Positive attitude 
  • Strong problem solving skills
  •  Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus
